Excellent hotel with free wifi, 24-hour reception, and comfortable rooms. On my first stay, the staff helped me print documents, greatly appreciated. I highly recommend it and will be back for Christmas.

If you want to visit Amsterdam it is pretty nice hotel. But it is far away from the city. You have to pay about 50 euros for the taxi.

Location is perfect for ease of travel. We arrived by car and took the bus each day to our destinations. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. One stop away is the old market square of Haarlem. Two stops away is the main train station of Haarlem. Amsterdam is only a few stops away by train. All our connections were fairly easy since we are accustomed to bus and rail travel in Europe.
Our confirmation through Booked.net said that the hotel was named "Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem Zuid." That is not the name of the hotel. It is named "Hotel Haarlem" and is part of the Van der Valk family of hotels. This was very confusing as we traveled by car and tried to find the hotel. Since the address given on our confirmation matched Hotel Haarlem, we parked and went inside to the check-in desk to see if we were in the correct hotel. We were indeed, but the name given by our confirmation was still a cause of needless confusion.

The hotel was big size and facilities were very good, it had comfortable and easy location just off a connecting bridge that crosses the central roadway and the most beautiful beach.

We liked the free car parking, the ease of getting a bus to Haarlem(and to connect to the railway to Amsterdam) every 10 minutes, the peacefullness (very quiet at night) and the airconditioning (optional)
The decor was dated, although the rooms with airconditioning are bigger and with modern furnishings. The lifts are old and a bit slow. There is no kettle/teabags/coffee/milk or minibar, so bring your own if you want a hot/cold drink in the room. There is a bar downstairs with reasonably priced beverages(3 Euros for wine and 2.75 Euros for Beer).Dining room was modern, with a good selection of menu on paper, but the food was unremarkable.Service here was a bit slow and lacking in attention. We requested a change in rooms on Day 3 as the shower was malfunctioning and the receptionist was not very polite to us,but to be fair she did manage to get us another room in the end.

Location is close to Haarlem, easy to get to from the highway, parking lot was large and free. The room for a family of 4 was quite large. The room and hotel were very clean. We arrived late at night and left early the next morning, so that is about all I know about the place.

The kindness and concern of the reception staff. We needed a late check-out due to difficult circumstances and it was given with no problem or extra charge.

The hotel is perfectly located for us, as it is close to where our family lives, and another plus for us is the fact that there is a shoppingmall closeby.
